About Us
Blessings in Baskets was originally founded as a way to provide comfort and encouragement to cancer survivors and their families. Having fought cancer along with two of her children, owner Nancy Keane is aware of just how much a dose of inspiration and laughter can help in the healing process. Blessings in Baskets was the perfect way to reach out to others who are going through similar experiences with cancer.
Nancy later expanded Blessings in Baskets to include gift baskets for Christian women, children with cancer or other illnesses (or who have a sibling or parent with cancer), and caregivers. But she has maintained her original purpose as well. For each Cancer Survivor basket purchased, a donation will be made to cancer-related programs which provide hope, encouragement and joy for cancer survivors, their families and their non-medical caregivers. Bear sales also help cancer patients through the Cancer Society.
The Bubble Story
Once upon a time a young cancer survivor named Missy dreamed that the way to beat cancer was to change her attitude. When she got to work that morning, her co-workers were negative and grumbling. Missy left, bought a case of bubbles, and returned to work. She gave a bottle to each worker, said, “Lighten up!” and left again. Later she returned to find the air filled with bubbles and everyone in a good mood.
Missy is my daughter. I tried Missy’s discovery and started passing out bubbles to co-workers when they were in a bad mood. The results were amazing!
Here is the clue: it’s almost impossible to be grumpy or angry while blowing bubbles. This is why every Blessings in Baskets cancer survivor gift basket contains a bottle of bubbles.
So whenever you feel a bit “down” or discouraged, start blowing bubbles. You will be amazed at what bubble blowing can do for you!
In His love, Nancy
